Leaf Burning

Leaf burning is not prohibited, but it is discouraged to help residents suffering from asthma and other respiratory afflictions.

Spotsylvania County has specific requirements for burning leaves.  If those are not followed and a leaf fire spreads and damages property or causes injury, the person burning leaves can be exposed to a serious and costly legal liability that is best avoided.
